Magtogoek : A nordic installation

"Magtogoek", the river that runs in Algonquin, is an installation that is part of the 375th special edition of Igloofest: Village Nordik (nordic village). The shelter is inspired by Aboriginal habitat and its relationship to nature. This construction questions the availability and proximity of materials formerly used in the construction of our habitats and the abandonment, in part, of this principle of self-sufficiency in modern architecture. Its walls, sometimes melting and sometimes icy, use water (the St. Lawrence River), essential material for the construction of the traditional igloo, framed here by current building practices, but still inspired by the past.
