The Coop Le Comité was founded in 2016 by Emilie Gagnon, Pierre Moro-Lin and Maxim Bonin.

Mission

Our coop contributes to the responsible development of cities and territories through urban and event design. Our aim is to improve people’s quality of life in the face of social and environmental challenges.

APPROACH

Le Comité emphasizes the sharing of expertise in a rigorous and inclusive approach where design becomes a development and intervention tool for reclaiming public space.

The team

Emilie Gagnon (she)

Founding member - CEO Management and special projects
Treasurer (Board of Directors)

Emilie's career path has taken her through the varied fields of industrial design and events. With solid expertise as a project manager, she has a keen sense of organization and logistics. Emilie never loses sight of the importance of the relational dimension in management. She sits on the Board of Directors of Réseau Coop, the Fédération de la coopération du travail du Québec, and is a lecturer in the post-grad program in event design at UQAM's École de design.

Pierre Moro-Lin (he)

Founding member - CEO Design and project management
President (Board of Directors)

Pierre has been developing his design practice for over 14 years, focusing on urban and event design. He has applied these specialties to numerous projects and businesses in France and Quebec. Between multimedia installations, public space and furniture design, Pierre focuses on social and environmental issues. He is involved in various organizations, sitting on the boards of the SDC Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and the sound design cooperative Audiotopie. Pierre is also involved in teaching, as a lecturer in the post-grad program in event design at UQAM's École de design.

Maxim Bonin (he)

Founding member - CEO Research
Vice-President (Board of Directors)

Maxim is responsible for research and development at the cooperative. He is also professor of communications in the new media department at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) in Rouyn-Noranda. He holds a doctorate in communications and a master's degree in media studies from UQAM. His current research interests include the dynamics and challenges of the cultural milieu in Rouyn-Noranda, the use and appropriation of urban riverside spaces, and the temporality of New York City's underground scenes. He is the founder and the director of the confluences.lab (UQAT) and affiliated professor at the Atelier de chronotopies urbaines (UQAM).

Xavier Massicotte (he)

Member - Head of lab and project manager
Director (Board of Directors)

Xavier is trained in political science and international development management. He is currently studying the governance of temporary and tactical urbanism projects and their appropriation by citizens at Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT). His professional experience testifies of a keen understanding of institutional dynamics in urban design projects . A team player, he quickly grasps the needs of the various stakeholders involved in a project to ensure its success. He is particularly interested in the development of projects with a strong social impact.

Florence Bonhomme (she)

Member - Project manager

Florence has a background in cultural and media production strategy, as well as in administration. A seasoned manager with great adaptability, she has solid experience in the cultural, sports and event sectors, thanks to mandates with Cirque Éloize and the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie. Florence brings creative solutions and a sensitive professionalism to her dealings with clients and collaborators.

Laurie Éthier (she)

Auxiliary member - Project manager

An industrial design graduate, Laurie is currently pursuing a master's degree in sustainable development management at HEC Montréal. Her experience as a designer gives her a global vision of an entire project, as well as a great capacity for adaptation. She proposes creative solutions adapted to the needs of the various stakeholders. Laurie is also a critical thinker when it comes to the environmental and social impact of a project. She has a keen interest in the circular economy and eco-design.

Alizée Fontanez (she)

Member - Designer
Secretary (Board of Directors)

Trained in environmental and event design, Alizée's global vision enables her to work at the scale of the object, the city and the territory. Her attention to detail makes her a meticulous designer, attuned to the needs of the various parties involved in a project. Her work reflects a reflective and socially-rooted approach, enabling her to be reactive while proposing creative and concrete solutions.

Lou Renaud (she)

Member - Designer

Lou's practice is rooted in an exploration of the many interconnected scales of design. From objects to urban installations and exhibition design, she consider the user's experience as the starting point of a project and demonstrates great conceptual strength. With public space as her preferred environment, she is interested in the relationship between the individual and his environment.

Marianne Demers (she)

Auxiliary member - Designer

Marianne has a background in event design and environmental design. Her varied interests and diversified career path have enabled her to develop a wide range of skills while demonstrating great rigor in her work. Her creativity and attention to detail enable Marianne to create innovative and unique concepts.

Marc-Alexandre Landry (he)

Auxiliary member - Designer

Marc-Alexandre has a background in environmental and urban design. With over 6 years' experience designing spaces and objects on a variety of scales, Marc-Alexandre has developed a keen interest in tactical urbanism and design with a social impact. He also has a keen eye for detail in the execution of plans and technical drawings.

Boris Van Landschoot (he)

Head of operations and assembly

With a Master's degree in Applied History and experience in the community, cultural and audiovisual sectors, Boris has recognized skills in organization and process improvement. He's eager to learn, and especially enjoys setting up complex projects, finding solutions and collaborating with motivated and diverse stakeholders.

Claire Blanchard (she)

Auxiliary member - Production manager

With 10 years' experience in the performing arts and cultural sector, Claire has a unique and versatile profile. Her sense of coordination and production, as well as her keen interest in arts and innovation, enable her to combine studio work with great creativity.

Julien Bouchard (he)

Production Assistant

Trained in carpentry and joinery, Julien is keen to put his skills to good use for the environment and social causes. His great autonomy and resourcefulness make him an efficient and indispensable colleague both in the workshop and on the assembly sites.
