Place William-Dow – Griffintown
Public place
Les Quartiers du Canal, Quartier de l’Innovation, Corridor culturel, and MR 63 have mandated Le Comité to develop the new William Dow public square. Initiated by the Griffintown neighborhood committee, the project is the result of citizen engagement and aims to create a multifunctional seasonal outdoor space to support the commercial and social vitality of the area.
Located in the heart of Griffintown, William Dow Public Square is part of the vibrant Cultural Corridor, whose mission is to promote creativity, art, heritage, and communities in the Southwest and Old Montreal neighborhoods.
Mission
Design, project management and production
The layout consists of six islands featuring shade structures, different levels of seating and platforms, planters, and a large stage that can host the activities planned for the Cultural Corridor. The shade structures create a distinctive visual appeal and are illuminated in the evening to highlight the site, which will be home to a permanent public square and an MR 63 building in the coming years.
