Place du Village – Arrondissement Ville-Marie

The Ville-Marie borough has mandated the Committee for the design and development of Place du Village, a redesigned public space at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Atateken streets. Revitalization efforts are continuing in the Village thanks to the implementation of projects that address, to varying degrees, the issues identified during the Village Forum consultation process, namely community living, sense of security, culture, identity, public space, and socioeconomic vitality. The development of Place du Village includes the design of seating furniture surrounding planters for shrubs and the integration of poles to accommodate large shade sails and lighting. The shade sails were adapted and modified from existing banners used to close off the site before the work began. The mandate also includes the exterior and interior design of a container to house a café operated by Les Survenants.
