Place de Castelnau – 2024
Closed street installation
For the fourth consecutive year, the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension called on the cooperative Le Comité to design attractive, innovative, and user-friendly temporary development solutions for the pedestrianization of Place de Castelnau. The objectives of the development included creating signage to identify the entrances to the site; ensuring that the development met accessibility and safety requirements; promoting coexistence between pedestrians and cyclists; and creating a space for performances near the church square.

Mission
Artistic direction, design, project management and production
One of the priorities for the 2024 edition of Place de Castelnau was to enhance the art exhibition known as the Galerie des placottoirs, which serves as an open-air museum using reusable exhibition modules. The furniture, artwork supports, and other scenography elements designed in previous years were redeployed, while renewing the visual signature and adding a new placottoir on the eastern portion of the street.
In collaboration with the Maison de la culture Claude-Léveillée, De Castelnau Street is being transformed into a pedestrian street, showcasing our public spaces through visual art and highlighting the talent of local artists. The Galerie des placottoirs offers an immersive and enriching artistic experience with mural artists Izabelle Duguay and Zoë Gelfant, who have taken over the placottoirs and various pieces of street furniture to use as supports for their creations.
