Les Jardins du Petit-Laurier – Arrondissement LPMR
Transitional urban design
Born out of a desire by the Plateau-Mont-Royal Borough to occupy the space of this former gas station before welcoming social housing in a few years, the transitional development of the land at the corner of Papineau and Laurier East streets is divided into four zones in order to meet the various needs identified: planting and urban agriculture area, mini-golf course, picnic area, and rest area with bike racks.
Mission
Conception, design, production
The proposed approach for the transitional space at Jardins du Petit-Laurier focuses on the concept of an educational and recreational laboratory. A public square featuring a mini-golf course and urban agriculture planting experiments, surrounding a shaded pavilion that can be used for events and activities. The color yellow unifies the site and the various installations, making them visible and identifiable throughout the seasons. The site becomes a hub for meetings, relaxation, community activities, and discoveries. A mural by artist Ola Volo completes the design.
