Public art contest
Les Gardiens is a public art, signage, and lighting project in rural areas for the Route des épouvantails (Scarecrow Trail) and the region’s geo-rally. Les Gardiens consists of five illuminated steel structures covered in vegetation, installed in five municipalities in the Pierre de Saurel RCM. Participatory planting workshops in three elementary schools and a publication describing the process were also created beforehand to make design practices accessible.
The Les Gardiens project won the first rural design competition in Quebec in 2015.
