Exhibition Savoir-Fer – Les Forges de Montréal

In close collaboration with Les Forges de Montréal, Le Comité was commissioned to design and produce the exhibition SAVOIR-FER: La forge dans nos sociétés (KNOWLEDGE OF IRON: Blacksmithing in our societies). This permanent exhibition presents the evolution of the practices and role of artisanal forging, from industrialization to the present day. It demystifies the work of the artisan blacksmith and showcases the research conducted by artisans at Les Forges de Montréal on traditional skills.

The exhibition also showcases the history of the Riverside Pumping Station, a heritage building that has housed the organization for nearly 20 years. Since 2009, Les Forges de Montréal has been working to preserve, promote, transmit, and update the heritage of blacksmithing and traditional forging practices.
